Seldom Support

Quiet Mode should always be understandable and reversible. These are the quickest answers to common questions.

What does Seldom block?

You choose a small list of Essentials that remain available. While Quiet Mode is active, other supported apps and websites show Seldom’s blocking screen. Some system apps are controlled by iOS and cannot be shielded.

Why does Seldom need Screen Time access?

Apple requires individual Screen Time authorisation before an app can apply a Managed Settings shield. Seldom uses that permission only for the blocking rules you create.

Do sessions continue if I close Seldom?

Yes. Timed sessions and recurring schedules are registered with Apple’s Device Activity system so their start and end boundaries do not depend on Seldom remaining open.

What do Flexible, Committed, and Locked mean?

Flexible sessions can end immediately. Committed sessions ask you to pause and confirm. Seldom does not offer an early end for a Locked session, so check your Essentials and end time before starting one.

How do breaks work?

Eligible sessions offer one deliberate 5, 10, or 20 minute break. Seldom removes its shield temporarily and asks iOS to restore it automatically when the chosen time ends. Breaks are unavailable when a Locked session, schedule, or Apple Focus would make the result unclear.

What does the progress view measure?

It records protected time from Quiet Mode sessions started in Seldom. Breaks are subtracted and ending a timed session early is recorded as an interruption. It does not claim to detect every time you glance at your phone.

Why am I still receiving notifications?

Seldom blocks apps from opening. iOS does not allow Seldom to change another app’s notification permissions. Use Apple Focus if you also want notifications silenced.

Can Seldom turn grayscale on automatically?

No App Store app can directly toggle the whole iPhone display’s Colour Filters. You can make grayscale a triple-click Accessibility Shortcut in iPhone Settings.
